Introduction about the project
This website is for the Nordplus project From folklore to... The participants are from Flataskóli in Iceland, Erakool "Intellekt", Kohtla-Jarve, Estonia,  Juventos" progimnazija, Šiauliai, Lithuania,  Preiļu 1. pamatskola, Preiļi, Latvia.
The aims for the project are: Pupils are interesting to know more not only about their country‘s culture, folklore, but they are also interested in other countries culture and folklore. For the new project „From folklore to ...“ we raise a goal to join folklore with the present, let the pupils to realize that everything what is old – it is not relic, that cultural values remain, that without the history and the past culture there wouldn‘t be the present and the future.
The world changes, it is influenced by new technologies, science, art and cultural achievements. While people migrate it is easier and faster to get acquaintance with the other cultures. The country survives its strength and remains invulnerable only when it maintains, respects its own culture. The youth will be able to evaluate their native country‘s place in the world only tolerating and appreciating the other culture. Participating in this project pupils will get to know and perceive not only the folklore of other countries, but nowadays art and cultural achievements. Folklore – it is not only songs and dances, it is much more. In this project we will pay more attention to history and literature. The project activities will be organized not only at school but in the museums and children libraries Pupils participating in this project will read their native and partner countries writers‘ works, will analise, dramatize, illustrate them. Pupils will get acquaint with legends about the origin of countries and cities, will search for links between countries‘ cultures, similarities and essential differences of people from several nationalities. They will learn to understand, perceive and appropriately represent art and literature works of other countries. Children will exchange their works virtual space, in virtual magazine. Various subjects will be integrated into project activities: Geography, native language, English, Art, PE, history and ICT. Teachers, who will participate in a project meetings will conduct the lessons, represent their pupils’ accomplished works.
